Meizu has produced some high performing smartphones in the past running Samsung’s Exynos chipset but for the past couple of years, it had abandoned Exynos in favor of Mediatek. This made lots of people loose interest in Meizu’s flagship phones. Now Meizu needed a powerful processor to power their next flagship. Since they are not in good terms with Qualcomm due to the ongoing legal battle between them Meizu has returned back to Samsung for Exynos chipset. Meizu yesterday announced its new shiny flagship phone Meizu Pro 6 Plus powered by the Samsung Exynos 8890, the same chip that powers the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.
Meizu Pro 6 Plus Specifications
As for the specs are considered, It features a huge 5.7-inch AMOLED display having a resolution of 1440 x 2560 also made by Samsung. As for the camera, it is a 12MP one which utilizes the Sony IMX386 CMOS sensor and Samsung’s image signal processor. The camera also features optical image stabilization to keep your videos steady and make up for good low-light photos. The smartphone offers 4GB of RAM for smoother multitasking and massive 128GB internal storage to store your large video files and games.
Meizu also promises a Hi-Fi audio and global LTE support except for some US carriers. There is a USB Type-C connector on the bottom to make up for a hasslefree charging experience. The 3400mAh battery while not big enough for such a large with QHD resolution, it certainly is not bad. With fast charging capabilities, Meizu claims the device takes just half an hour to charge the phone up to 60%. One cool new feature that I am interested in is that Meizu Pro 6 Plus also supports 3D touch which will come in handy.
On the software front, the phone runs Flyme OS 6.0 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is kind of old. Meizu Pro 6 Plus also boasts a new artificial intelligence engine called “One Mind”. Another cool software addition is the inclusion of an Always-on display feature.
Meizu Pro 6 Plus Price & Availability
Meizu Pro 6 Plus will be available for CNY 3000 (US $435) when it hits the market. There will be three color options Gray, Silver, and Gold. Meizu Pro 6 Plus will also be released outside China in the countries where it already offers Meizu devices. Below are the markets where Meizu is currently offering their smartphones:

The phone seems very interesting considering the hardware it carries for the given price however I am very curious about how well the phone camera will perform. Meizu says it’s the best smartphone camera that they have ever shipped with a smartphone.
